Chords and Lyrics to Songs by Lucy Kaplansky

Lucy Kaplansky - Lucy Kaplansky - Lucy Kaplansky - Lucy Kaplansky - Lucy Kaplansky

flesh and bone cvr art I first saw Lucy Kaplansky when she opened for John Gorka at the Handlebar in Greenville, S.C.  I picked up her Flesh and Bone CD and since then, I've become a major fan.  I've seen her perform with Cry, Cry, Cry and sponsored her concert in my home town on August 13,1999.

from my posting to the Lucy-list (lucy-list@smoe.org) after the concert:

"...Lucy was great!  She and Rick said they knew they were down south when they passed a bank sign showing the temperature of 106.  Spent nearly an hour getting her set up and a sound check done, and then took them down the street for dinner.  Rick suggested they could ride in the back of my pickup truck for a true "southern experience", but I think Lucy definitely preferred to take their car.  That worked out to their advantage since, while dinner was delicious (fairly authentic Italian for this part of the world, and Lucy recommended the spaghetti to the audience during the show ), we got pressed for time and I still had to drive home to pick up my wife and son.  I really enjoyed talking with them over dinner.  We spoke about favorite musicians (Lucy says she listens to Steve Earle almost exclusively right now), and Rick teased that she mostly listened to her own CDs.  They also gave me some helpful suggestions regarding working with booking agents, and talked about the business in general.

Overall, a terrific evening, Lucy seemed to really enjoy herself and she and Rick were there for nearly an hour afterwards, selling CDs and signing autographs.  She is scheduled to be back in Charlotte in February.  I can't wait."

I did change a few chords I play for her songs after watching her, but sitting in the front row with my wife and son, I didn't want to be a distraction by scribbling away during her performance.  Too enthralled anyway :-)
